THE WOLF’S MOTIVES

THEATER PIECE: RENDER + DRAFTING, 2026

Production Design: Isabel Fernandez

This play, by Sergio Muñoz, tells the claustrophobic and cyclical story of a family of six. A wife and her four children are trapped inside their home in Mexico City because the father refuses to let them witness the horrors of the outside world.

The set was designed as a rotating stage to represent the cyclical nature of the story. Its architecture is inspired by the Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City. Much like Mexican history, the children ultimately overthrow the "dictator," their father, only to end up repeating the same cycle they sought to escape.

The audience is seated on the floor surrounding the stage, creating the feeling of being both an intruder in the family's private life and another person trapped within their world. Dim lighting reinforces the idea that what remains unseen is just as important as what is visible, maintaining an atmosphere of secrecy and tension. The only brightly lit area is the patio, offering a glimpse of hope. However, only a small portion of the patio is revealed, preserving the overwhelming sense of claustrophobia that defines the family's reality.
